Inspired by the sea

My studio is on the top floor, with windows facing east and south and west, and views of rooftops, mostly grey, slate grey; and here I work and have ideas. I can think inside these thick granite walls like I breathe at the sea.

Most days I sketch, sometimes paint. I love the speed and chance of charcoal drawings, drawing out a line, a curve, which then shape my ideas in clay.

I want to capture something the ever-changing image of the movement of water against the stillness of the rocks, and create a shape much like one formed in the sand by the sea as it ebbs and flows, and eddies round rocks, with this material made of decomposed igneous rock, that can flow like water in your hands.
